Central Valley San Jose Youth Soccer League is committed to providing a high-quality youth soccer program for boys and girls. Children with little or no soccer experience should play in the recreational program. Recreational teams focus on improving the fundamental skills of soccer while encouraging and promoting healthy competition through league play.
Each year, players are assigned to teams on which all players must play at least 50% of the time throughout the Fall or Spring season. We encourage the use of small-sided games in the youngest age groups to maximize skills development. In addition, we sponsor recreational jamborees (Fall season), which feature tournament-style of play.
Recreational teams will play an 8-game season, with games being held on Saturdays, and sometimes on Sundays due to field availability. The number of practices will vary, and generally increase with the age of the child. Games and practices are generally held at local schools/parks in the Cambrian and Willow Glen neighborhoods.
Volunteers: Looking to stay involved and help the soccer community? Our recreational soccer coaches come from a variety of backgrounds. Some are former soccer players looking to stay involved. Others are looking to coach with youth in their community. Coaches are typically parents with children in our recreational program. If you are interested in coaching a recreational team, please register yourself as a volunteer during the registration process.
