Four Decades of Soccer Excellence
It's a special time for the Central Valley San Jose Soccer Club. We are proudly celebrating our 40th anniversary this soccer year, spanning both the Fall of 2023 and the Spring of 2024. For four glorious decades, CVSJ has been committed to providing a safe and fun environment for children in the Cambrian, Willow Glen, Rose Garden neighborhoods of San Jose and a section of Campbell.
One of the most charming aspects of our recreational program is the incredible team names that have graced our fields over the years. From clever wordplay to heartfelt homages, these names capture the essence of each team's spirit and camaraderie. As we kick off our 40th-anniversary celebration, we invite you to join us in honoring this rich tradition with the CVSJ Best Team Name Competition!
The CVSJ Team Name Competition
To mark this momentous occasion, we are hosting a competition to find the best CVSJ recreational team name. Whether it's a name from the past that still echoes in our hearts or a current team carrying the torch, we want to see your creativity on full display. The winning team name, selected from both past and present, will receive a fantastic prize of $100* to spend at our CVSJ fan shop on soccer.com.
We can't wait to see the treasure trove of team names that have graced our fields over the past four decades. It's a testament to the enduring spirit of CVSJ soccer!
How to Enter
Entering the competition is easy. Simply post a picture featuring your team banner, whether it's from the past or your current squad, on your social media platform of choice - be it Facebook or Instagram. Don't forget to include the hashtag #CVSJteamname in your post. The more teammates, parents, and friends you tag in the post, the more likes you can rally for your entry!
Competition Criteria
To ensure fairness and creativity in the competition, here are the criteria for entering:
⚽ All entries must be CVSJ recreational soccer team names.
⚽ You must submit a picture of your team with the team name prominently displayed.
⚽ The deadline to submit your picture is October 10, 2023.
⚽ Team names will be judged based on three criteria:
Total number of likes on Facebook and Instagram.
Creativity of the team name.
Uniqueness of the team name.
⚽ The winner will be announced on October 15th, 2023.
⚽ The prize is a generous $100 to spend at our CVSJ fan shop on soccer.com.

As you admire the CVSJ logo, you will note that we are celebrating the league's 40th anniversary this soccer year (Fall 2023 and Spring 2024). CVSJ has left an enduring mark on the community, from nurturing future National Team players like Danielle Slaton, Aly Wagner, and Naomi Girma, to providing countless recreational players with their first touches on the ball and a lifetime of cherished memories.
